Joslyn ate most of her whole wheat bagel and ate peaches for breakfast.  For lunch she had 2nd's on mac-n-cheese, ate ham, lettuce salad, and corn.

The first thing Joslyn played with this morning was the dress-up clothes.  She ended up with two knit caps on which looked pretty funny.  She frequently layers the dress-up clothes whenever it's possible.

Lauralea had on some dance music and then later when I looked, Lauralea was the only one dancing; or so I thought.  Joslyn heard me tell Lauralea that and she said, "no, Peyton too!"  And she was right; Peyton was dancing and jigging up and down.  :)  So I stood corrected on that point.  And soon Joslyn was looking like Lauralea; arms above her head and going, "oooh yeahhh..."  Yes, I know, it's a little out of control around here sometimes. :)

Joslyn had the largest of the stuffed animals sitting in the big chair and then she was perched on top of it, sitting on it's lap.  Very cute.  And she stayed there for at least ten minutes.

She did not have any grabbing, pinching, biting, scratching, pushing, screaming, or yelling incidents this morning.  :)  Awesome.  We like these kinds of mornings.

Tuesday, February 28, 2012

Joslyn ate blueberry muffin and 2nd's on pears for breakfast.  For lunch she had tuna and crackers, sweet potatoes, and oranges.

Joslyn followed Morgan's lead and they were walking backwards across the room.  Soon everyone was doing that.  Or at least the ones who could and some others who couldn't, but still tried.  Pretty soon we had kids walking backwards in opposite directions.  It's amazing how many things they can experiment with that have the potential to not end well.  :)

She had some more struggles today with grabbing other kids.  And also an 'almost' biting incident that I was able to jump between because I saw it happening.  I know she gets more sensitive when her nose is running and so we're watching closely.

She had fun in the back room again and really likes the little dinosaurs.  She had them hauled into the igloo along with some books and little 'pianos'.  Peyton and Emily had joined her in taking toys in there.

Frequently at story time Lauralea will make up stories and insert the kid's names into them.  Today it was about "Joslyn and Jadey".  Soon they were arguing with each other about the story.  "I did it!!"  "No, I did it!!"  Ok, ok, end of story time.  That will be enough fun for today.    :)

Monday, February 27, 2012

Joslyn ate chex cereal and 1/2 of the fruit salad for breakfast.  For lunch she ate most of roast beef sandwich, drank tomato soup, and ate apple slices.

Peyton was sitting on the mattress and Joslyn laid down beside her and put her head in Peyton's lap.  Peyton looked at her and I think this is what she was thinking; ok, you use me for a pillow and I'll use you for a drum.  So she began to drum on Joslyn and Joslyn decided she didn't like that setup and got out of there.  :)  Peyton's dad is a drummer and she loves to drum on anything.

Jadey was concerned about a 'spill' on Joslyn's pants; "Look, she spill, she spill!"  But it was dry and I could detect a scent of maple, I think.  :) It was a pleasant surprise and a much sweeter smell than I was expecting!  :)

She and Emily were sitting together on the couch reading books.  Joslyn had a book about a lamb and was singing, "Emily had a little lamb..."  Emily loved it was just beaming.  We like to insert the kid's names into our songs and they enjoy that a lot.

Here are a couple of pictures of Lauralea talking to the kids about the animal posters.  They were all very interested and notice that little Peyton was joining right in too.  The bottom picture shows a large poster we just put up this weekend that has a lot of different animals.  In the first picture Joslyn is examining some food toy she has.  I think it's pizza.  :)

Friday, February 24, 2012

Joslyn ate oatmeal and dried plums for breakfast.  For lunch she ate hash brown casserole, bites of biscuit, and ate mandarin oranges.

Lauralea was reading books during story time.  Joslyn was excited to see the next book and she said, "Peckled Frog!!"  The name of the book is "Ten Little Speckled Frogs".  Pretty cute, huh?  :)   (It has been several days, maybe weeks, since she had seen the book.

Well as you already know Aaron is here today and Joslyn was pretty tickled about that.  After you left though, she didn't really pay any more attention to him.  Which is basically the way he likes it.  :)

Joslyn was sitting at my feet while I was feeding baby Nora.  (yes, she had been instructed to be there.)  Regardless, she thought it was funny when I would squeeze her with my legs.  I told her I was giving her hugs with my legs and she giggled.

She went over and sat in front of Riley when Riley was crying.  Soon she had her chuckling.  She did a great job of distracting her.

She had two dry diapers in a row this morning when going potty.

Thursday, February 23, 2012

Joslyn ate french toast and honeydew melon for breakfast.  For lunch she ate turkey, crescent roll, squash, and 2nd's on dried mangoes.

Joslyn played with the dolls a lot this morning.  Hey, all three babies were asleep so she settled for the fake ones.  :)  She was covering them with blankets, rocking them, and feeding them 'ice cream' (which is the main food toy in this toy exchange).  Lauralea had been showing Morgan how to do that (to get her to do some appropriate play) and Joslyn was obviously listening to that interaction.

She was sitting on the couch reading books with Peyton, Emily, and Morgan.  She and Emily were looking at each other's books and discussing them.  Hey, it's never too young to participate in a book discussion group.  :)

The potty training group all went into the bathroom shortly after you left.  Lauralea has them line up along the bathtub where they observe and wait their turn; and this is the same routine every day.  Kenzie was sitting on the toilet and Joslyn marched right over there and started to bite her.  Lauralea was able to stop her and she also kind of stopped herself when she realized what she was doing.  And then of course she started screaming at Lauralea.  This had us scratching our heads wondering what that was about.  We could only think of a couple of things; one, we know that she has a runny nose and not feeling well affects her behavior.  Secondly, maybe she just thought it was supposed to be her turn even though Kenzie was already on the throne.

She read in the igloo in the back room and actually waited until it was empty of children.  Later, Peyton joined her in there and she was alright with that.

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Joslyn ate mixed berries and 1/2 of her toast for breakfast.  For lunch she ate ham, crackers, bean soup, and her kiwi.

Every time a baby cried today Joslyn went racing over there and laid her head in the baby's lap.  Some times it helped and some times the crying accelerated.  :)

Lauralea took them to the potty three times this morning.  Joslyn went potty two of those times, so it's nice to have some successes.  Realistically it's going to be awhile yet before she masters this thing and I'm only saying this so we don't get our expectations too high and then be disappointed.  Her diaper was still wet every time this morning so she obviously isn't holding it a lot yet.  However, she appears to be on her way and that's awesome.

She had to spend some alone time again this morning for pushing other kids and grabbing them.

She played with the same two little dinosaurs in the back room again and doing the same thing with them.  She goes behind the igloo and lines them up on the igloo.  Then she coaxed Peyton (that didn't take much) into chasing her around the igloo.  They also played peek-a-boo in and around the igloo.

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Joslyn ate 1/2 of whole wheat bagel and all her dried apricots for breakfast.  For lunch ate 1/2 of fish (tilapia), ate pasta and peas, and ate applesauce.

Joslyn had some potty successes this morning!!  Yes!!  (I said successes, not excesses).  :)  She was dry all morning, went potty three times, and there was no whining, screaming, crying, moaning, or wailing.  Life is good.  :)  Way to go Joslyn!  It was a complete reversal from yesterday.

Baby Nora had been gone since Thursday (off to Minnesota) to see family.  And you know what that meant for Joslyn today; she couldn't keep her hands off of her.  :)  She had her head laying in Nora's lap and was just wanting to hug and hug on her.

She and Emily were sitting in the rocking chair reading books.  Then Jadey came along and started spinning the chair around and around.  They played that fun game for a long time.

Joslyn likes the dress-up clothes in this toy exchange.  She had on a raincoat, rubber boots, knit cap, and scarf.  And she was talking on the phone.  (Maybe she was inquiring about the weather forecast.)

Monday, February 20, 2012

Joslyn ate some bran cereal and dried cranberries for breakfast.  For lunch she had 2nd's on cheese pizza, ate steamed cauliflower, and tropical fruit.

We did a toy and book exchange so Joslyn was excited to play with the new dress-up clothes, rain boots, and play with the food toys.  She also explored the new books and was especially intrigued with the 'flush the potty' book which has a button that sounds like a potty flushing.

Speaking of 'potty things' we had another big ordeal with Joslyn in the bathroom again.  It's been this way for at least three days in a row so we're going to back-off for a few days.  She was screaming about going up on the toilet and wanted down.  So when Lauralea got her down that wasn't right either so she screamed even louder.  She didn't want to be up and she didn't want to be down.  And she hasn't been having any successes anyhow during the past three daycare days so we'll wait a few days and try again.

She was piling toys in front of baby Riley to play with.  Then she climbed into the big box and was leaning over the edge talking to Riley.  I heard her say, "I love you."  She was using the same tone inflection that I had just been using a minute before that.

Well I have to include three pictures I took during reading time.  Thomas was acting pretty tired and soon was relaxing on Joslyn.  Joslyn is a good 'snuggler' and she kind of liked it.  :)  He lifted his head and looked at her very lovingly.  It was quite sweet.  (I don't know if Peyton realizes her boyfriend is not being real faithful to her.)  Then when she put her hand around his cheek I had to take another picture.  Then eventually Thomas had moved closer to Lauralea, but he was so close that he could only see the book with one eye.  And I thought that was kind of humorous so I took another picture.  (Joslyn is feeling a little abandoned so she's sucking her thumb.)    :)

Friday, February 17, 2012

Joslyn ate malt-o-meal cereal for breakfast.  For lunch she ate most of spaghetti, ate lettuce salad, and most of mixed fruit.

Joslyn was asking for Aaron again.  He's not here today as his family is out of town.  No one else ever asks for him, but she really likes him.  So cute.

Lauralea was singing songs with the kids and Alayna always requests, "Jesus Loves Me".  So I asked, "who's favorite song is that?" And Joslyn said, "Alayna!"  Joslyn knows all the words to it so if you hear her singing that song you'll know where it came from.  Even though Lauralea and I are both Christian we don't set out to teach Christian songs.  (for obvious reasons)  :)

This is the Friday before toy exchange weekend so the kids were loading the washer with daycare laundry; dress up clothes, dolls, doll blankets, stuffed animals, etc.  We make a big pile in the middle of the room and they carry it out to the lunch room, up the step-stool, and load the washer.  It's a favorite activity.

Here's a picture that was taken Thursday (yesterday) afternoon.  She had on the cow mask and hat.  I thought it gave a whole new meaning to the term 'cowgirl'.  :)

Thursday, February 16, 2012

Joslyn ate raisin english muffin and blueberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate chicken and crackers, potato salad, and canned cherries.

The first thing Joslyn played with was the dress-up clothes; cowboy boots and the cow suit.  Does this all sound vaguely familiar?

Lauralea had the kids sitting on the step at the window and was doing sign language with them.  (Using pictures of a woman doing the signs.)  Joslyn was listening intently and was very interested.  This group is now old enough that we can do some actual sit-down learning sessions as long as they're short, sweet, and to the point.  :)  Most of the learning they do here is integrated into their play.

She was having fun reading some books in the rocking chair in the back room.  It's a glider-rocker and she can easily make it go!  She let Emily join her in the chair.  Jadey had previously tried, but Joslyn protested that.  :)

Here's a picture of Joslyn having fun playing with the bath foam at art time.  It's hard to see in this picture, but Emily has a little dab on her finger (and she was pretty disgusted with that small amount) and that's all she would do for a long time.  Joslyn was showing her how it is done.  :)

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

Joslyn ate peaches and 2nd's on biscuits for breakfast.  For lunch she ate most of baked beans, ate dinner roll, steamed broccoli, and 1/2 of her pineapple.

I know Joslyn went potty at least once this morning.  I'll have the 'final' answer when you get here tonight.

When they all got back from the bathroom Jadey was sitting on one of the pots from the food toys.  She said "I go potty."  So, of course, everyone (including Joslyn) had to follow her fine example.

I think it's interesting how they'll sometimes do the most random thing and that will become a 'fad' for a day or more and then it's gone forever.  For example, for about three days now they've been playing with the doll bottles and the rocking horses.  It's not real clear to me what they're trying to accomplish, but they stick the bottles all over the horse like they're trying to give him fuel.  :)  One of them will start something like that and the rest think it's the thing to do.

Joslyn was wearing the cow suit today.  Some days she will put that suit on by herself and not complain.  Today was not one of those days.  I always tell her "instead of whining just ask for help."

Today when Lauralea went to get the mail she took the camera with her.  The kids don't look all that thrilled do they?  :)

Tuesday, February 14, 2012

Joslyn ate hash browns and 2nd's on waffles for breakfast.  For lunch she had bite of shrimp, ate brown rice, bite of red pepper, and ate 1/2 of oranges.

The first thing Joslyn did was get that cow suit on again.  She sure likes wearing it.  :)  She works hard to get in on by herself.

She played on the rocking horses.  It looked quite funny; Joslyn with the cow suit on, including the hood, sitting very solemn on the horse, and sucking her thumb.

All the kids were lined up at the window watching Lauralea go get the mail and then come back and play at the window with them.  It's one of our 'traditions'.  :)

After her dental appointment she played with a doll and had it all wrapped up and laying in the cowboy hat which serves as a doll bed.

Monday, February 13, 2012

Joslyn ate cheerios and banana for breakfast.  For lunch she ate toasted cheese sandwich, drank tomato soup, and ate apple slices.

Joslyn was asking about Aaron, who only comes on most Fridays, and said, "where'd Aaron go Lauralea, where'd Aaron go?"  She obviously likes him a lot.  (which I put in her journals every Friday)  We find that interesting because he really doesn't pay much attention to her.  Maybe it's because he's only here once a week and so it's kind of a novelty.

Joslyn and Morgan were trying to put slippers on Emily; kind of a tag-team effort.  They weren't successful, but Emily didn't really care one way or the other.  She was just patiently sitting there.  :)

Joslyn was wearing the cow mask again and Peyton couldn't get enough of that.  She was right up in Joslyn's face checking it all out.

Joslyn jumped off the climber onto the mattress, played with the dolls, put the see-through scarves over her head, put legos together, and played with the barn and barn animals.

Thursday, February 9, 2012

Joslyn had bites of breakfast:  blueberry bread pudding and blueberries.  For lunch she ate a turkey burger, green beans, and kiwi.

The first thing Joslyn did when she got here was find a doll, food toys, and a blanket.  Then she wrapped it all in the blanket and used a cowboy hat as the doll bed.  :)

All the kids were lined up at the window waving at the neighbor, "Big Willy" while he was getting his mail.  He loves it when the kids wave at him.

Joslyn and Emily sat in the chair and read books.  Joslyn was reading and Emily was very intently listening.  They were there for a long time.

Lauralea was talking to baby Riley and asked, "do you want to go in the saucer?"  Joslyn says "yah!!" very enthusiastically.  I guess she thought it was an open invitation to any and all.  :)

She was asking to put on a cow suit so I decided I better get a picture so you can what that looks like.

Wednesday, February 8, 2012

Joslyn ate dried mangoes and 1/2 of toast with jelly for breakfast.  For lunch she ate burrito, sweet potatoes, and tropical fruit.

Every time this week that Joslyn wraps up one of the dolls in a blanket she has been including some food toys in there.  I know I mentioned this before, but it wasn't just a one-time thing.  I am finding that quite humorous.  :)

She was wanting to snuggle for quite awhile this morning.  Maybe it was because I had been getting on her case for screaming.  We're still working at having her "use your words" instead of screaming when another child is in her space, or she's in another child's space.  Some days are obviously better than others, but this wasn't one of her better mornings.  She also used her teeth a couple times as a 'first line of defense'. So she probably needed her 'love tank' filled with some snuggling when all of that quieted down and straightened out.

She and Alayna were playing on the mattress and 'under' the ramp that they jump off of.  There obviously isn't much room under there, but they were squeezing into the small spaces that are available.  Then they would crawl out and change spots.

She played in the back room with the barns, barn animals, and the toy that makes the animal sounds.  She also played with the legos and is really adept at stacking them.  She enjoys it very much.

Tuesday, February 7, 2012

Joslyn ate dried plums and 2nd's on cinnamon roll for breakfast.  For lunch she ate scrambled eggs, bites of waffle and hash browns, ate most of cantaloupe.

At the lunch table (after lunch) Joslyn was tickling Emily's feet.  Emily was in her high chair and Joslyn  could just reach back and get her.  Emily thought that was funny and said, "do again".

Joslyn had wrapped a scarf around her head and her little face was all I could see.  It looked cute and I laughed.  As soon as I did she headed right for the mirror to see it for herself.  :)

I took this picture while Lauralea was singing with the kids.  Nothing real special about it, but right after this was taken Lauralea had Peyton sitting on her lap and was doing the actions with Peyton's arms.  Joslyn thought that was hilarious and was really laughing.

This picture was taken yesterday afternoon.  Joslyn was sitting in there and Alayna started piling dress- up clothes and doll blankets on her.  She liked it and others joined in.  Then Morgan wanted a turn and everyone buried her with clothes and blankets.

Monday, February 6, 2012

Joslyn ate kix cereal and mixed fruit for breakfast.  For lunch she ate most of ham sandwich, ate broccoli, and mandarin oranges.

We did a toy and book exchange so Joslyn was busy exploring everything.  She played with the 'new' dolls and was wrapping them in several layers of blankets, feeding them, and talking to them.  She put some food toys beside them (plate and spoon) before she wrapped them.  I guess that's in case they got hungry while sleeping.

Joslyn played on the rocking horses and was singing.  It was very soft and I was not able to hear what it was.

She had an amused look on her face listening to Morgan and Jadey do some cheers.  Morgan started it by saying, "go team!'', then, "go defense!".  Then Jadey chimes in with, "touchdown!"

Joslyn was hugging on Peyton which was cute and very sweet except she wasn't ready to turn loose when Peyton was ready to take off.

I took this picture Friday afternoon, but I wanted to include it today so you can see Joslyn getting as close to baby Riley as she can.  Thomas is watching and waiting his turn.  He had been trying to interact with the baby too.

Friday, February 3, 2012

Joslyn ate brown rice and raisins for breakfast.  For lunch she ate meatloaf, french bread, bite of carrots, and ate dried apricots.

Lauralea was sitting on the little steps and Joslyn was heading up there to jump onto the mattress.  She said, "You're in the road Lauralea!!"  :)

Well Aaron was here again today and that usually means one thing for him when Joslyn is around: "run for your life".  :)  She wasn't about to leave his side again for the first 20 minutes.  She keeps looking at him with the cutest grin and is so happy that he's here.  And he's like, oh, it's you again.

This weekend is toy exchange so they all helped load the washer with daycare things.  They carry them out and climb up and put them in.  I didn't think about taking a picture until right at the end and just as I was ready to take the picture Emily slams the lid down on Jadey's finger.  Of course she starts to howl and Joslyn joined in; for reasons I'm unclear about.  :)  I know she didn't have her hands there too.  I guess she thought it was a good opportunity to release some emotions too.

Joslyn, Jadey, Emily, and Alayna were having so much fun running in circles.  I'm making that judgment by how loud they were laughing.

Thursday, February 2, 2012

Joslyn ate cinnamon toast and 2nd's on grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate most of her chicken, bites of dinner roll, ate mashed potatoes, and 1/2 of canned cherries.

At mealtimes Joslyn sits next to Lauralea and during breakfast today she leaned her head over on Lauralea's knee and said, "I love you."  Those spontaneous acts of affection are so precious.

She was sitting on the floor leaning back against the couch.  Peyton came over and I guess Joslyn looked like a step stool to her.  Peyton put her foot in the middle of Joslyn's back and stepped right on up onto the  couch.  Pretty nifty, huh?  You don't need me to tell you how much Joslyn appreciated that.  :)

Joslyn was playing one of her favorite games again; blanket over her head, strolling around the room, giggling all the time.  It's all lots of fun until Thomas grabs her blanket and takes off at a high rate of speed.  Then he tried to copy what she was doing, except he understands even less than her the consequences of strolling around blind.

Hers a picture of Joslyn using Lauralea for a pillow.  She looks pretty comfy.  She returned later to the same place.  :)

Wednesday, February 1, 2012

Joslyn ate peaches and bites of whole wheat bagel for breakfast.  For lunch she ate ham, mac-n-cheese, 2nd's on lettuce salad (love that ranch dressing), and ate corn.

Joslyn was sitting by baby Nora and talking to her.  Nora was moving her hand around and it ended up in Joslyn's hand and boy was she happy.  :)  She's holding my hand!!

Lauralea was singing songs with the kids and Joslyn made a selection and it sounded like this; "Puba".  We couldn't get it and so Kenzie interpreted; "school bus", and dang if she wasn't right.  It's funny that they can understand each other even when we can't.

They had the cups and were pushing them into the carpet as hard as they could to try to make circle marks on the carpet.

At lunch Joslyn's mac-n-cheese was all stuck together.  She said that it was "stuckidy".  :)  I kind of like that word.

She was reading to Thomas on the couch and he was pointing at the pictures and really into it.  Then when he left she started reading to Emily.
